BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT

Your questions.
Answered.

Planning a drone project? Here are answers to common questions about working with X8 Drones, from choosing a date to understanding the results.

Where do you work?

X8 Drones is based in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, and works across Lincolnshire and the wider UK. Tell us your site location and the work you need so we can discuss feasibility, access and any travel arrangements.

What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

Safe flying and useful results depend on the conditions. Wind, rain, visibility and other site conditions can affect whether a flight can go ahead. If conditions are unsuitable, we will discuss postponing the flight and arranging another suitable date. Please flag any time-critical requirements when enquiring.

Do I need to arrange permissions?

Tell us who owns or manages the site and what access is available. We will discuss any landowner or site permissions needed for access, take-off and landing, and assess the flight restrictions and permissions relevant to the proposed work. A booking does not guarantee that every requested flight will be possible.

What information do you need before quoting?

Please send the site address or location, the purpose of the work, the areas or assets you want to see, your preferred dates and the outputs you need. Existing photographs, drawings or a short brief can help. Let us know about access restrictions, site inductions or particular hazards.

How soon will I receive my photos, video or inspection material?

Turnaround times vary with the scope of the work, editing requirements and the agreed outputs. We will agree delivery times before booking. If you have a deadline, please tell us at the enquiry stage so we can discuss what is achievable.

What can a drone inspection show?

A drone inspection can provide detailed views of accessible external surfaces and hard-to-reach areas. Images can help record visible defects, compare changes over time and identify areas that may need closer investigation. The coverage and level of detail depend on safe access, visibility, conditions and the agreed brief.

What can an inspection not establish?

Images cannot reveal every hidden defect or establish the condition of areas that cannot be seen. A visual drone inspection does not, by itself, certify structural integrity or confirm that an asset is safe. Findings may need assessment by an appropriately qualified surveyor, engineer or other specialist, with further testing where necessary.

What can thermal imaging tell me?

Thermal imaging records surface-temperature patterns that may help identify areas for further investigation. Results are affected by weather, sunlight, surface materials and operating conditions. Thermal images do not see through walls, and an unusual temperature pattern alone does not prove a particular fault.

What will I receive?

We will agree the deliverables before booking. Depending on the project, these may include photographs, edited video, inspection imagery or progress records. Please tell us if you need annotations, a particular file format or material for a specialist to review, so we can confirm what is included.
